Run

In the purest form. Running completes a circle of my life. A flame stoked from the ashes of chasing freedom. From city trails, mountain skree, and everything in-between.

I find myself aligned.

  • The spark that ignited the fire.

    465 miles & 38.4k of running, biking, and split-boarding.

I completed the Calendar Club Challenge hosted by Colin O’Brady, designed by Jesse Itzler.

A full breakdown of the month can be read here.

  • 8/8/20 - 9:50:00

My first organized ultra running event. Lack of water and heat exhaustion drove me to the finish line. Consumed a large amount of calories after.

  • 1/30/21 - 12:15:47

Started in the dark, finished in the dark. Realized this sport was fucked up and knew it was for me. Ran beautiful Moab Utah trails and suffered leg lock after the race. Two beers, 1/4 burger, and a pizza was the cure.

  • 3/26/21 - 14:49:02

Paced my friend Truett in his first 100mile run. I got him at the half way point around 10pm and paced the back half through the night. His wife joined the last 7 miles. Smiles, heart burn, and buffalo stew were shared by the end.

  • 6/27/21 - 10:10:56

I ran Utahs highest point, Kings Peak, car-to-car. Day was spent with two friends, one of which had never ran more than 8 miles. Started and finished at Henry’s Fork trailhead and encountered marmots, backpackers, and high alpine views.

  • 17/11/21 - 11:21:28

31.4 miles in the High Unitas Wilderness Area above 9,000’ - solo.

Encountered father and son backpackers, pieced together the highland trail, and found even more comfort in hard to reach places. - solo

  • 7:45:50

7/17/21 -Beautiful day in the Oquirrh Mountains of Utah. Finished the race mid afternoon, drove home, got Chick-Fil-A, and napped on the couch.

  • 7/24/21 - 5:49:23

A fun run at Snowbird Utah. Had my stomach blow up at mile 4 of the uphill. Found it to settle after some Nuun tablets and watermelon. Was not fully recovered from the week before but swiftly - like a goat- ran straight down the ski resort to the finish line. Free pizza and Gatorade to follow.

  • 8/7/21 - 8:33:10

Started at China Meadows Trailhead and ran both sides of Red Castle. Saw two split board lines, but later found out they had been done. It was a smokey day in the High Unitas Wilderness - solo

  • 8/14/21 - 9:53:35

Round two at this race. Found it to be even hotter than I remember. Could not keep down food or water, getting to the finish was a force in the Utah heat. I have no intention of ever doing this race again.

  • 9/6/21 - 11:12:12

Did not finish the traverse. The original mountain runner must be crazy because this is a brute of a ridge traverse. I ran into two ladies I knew on one of the summits, ended up descending back down with them and enjoyed great conversation.

  • 10/23/21 - 8:06:05

Ran the under the rim trail of Bryce Canyon south to north. AMAZING views and even better company at the end, camped outside the park with good friend Jake - ran the trail solo. Trip report here.

  • 11/13/21 - 12:08:35

Finished my second 50mile race. I really enjoyed this race minus two moments. The first, a stomach cramp from to much honey and lack of water. The second, seeing the way down the mountain and realizing what the fuck did I sign up for. In the end, left very happy and excited to do another one.

  • 6/5/22 -8:37:23

Ran the Davis County ridge and found a new private ski resort. Explored their lift towers and found water coolers/tent left by previously held race.

  • 6/18/22 - 6:39:42

Experienced a messed up stomach from miles 10.3 - 14. At mid aid station I downed Coca-Cola and crackers… absolute game changer.

  • 6/25/22 - 8:24:00

Attempted the entire ridge of the Stansburry Mountain Range. Failed due to lack of time, slow bushwhack in undeveloped areas and continued stomach problems. Journal here.

  • 7/9/22 - 18:08:30

Completed my first 100k distance run. I ate many calories, saw the scars of forest fires, met amazing humans and had some classic type II fun. This race allowed me to realize that 100miles is soon approaching. - Write up here.

  • 9/13/22 - 6:41:26

Visited old friends and experienced southeast Alaska in its best weather, overcast. Met amazing locals and even made the newspaper! - quick pictures here.

  • 10/1/22 - 8:15:48

Starting in Snomass Village I followed the South Rim Trail, connected it to Governments trail, then ran and out and back to crazy point. The run was time under tension. Solo run to enjoy fall weather and Colorado vibrant colors. - pics here.

  • 9/3/23 - 8:58:34

Double Ascent & Circumnavigation of Box Elder Peak, Utah

  • DNF attempt at 100 miles

  • 10/9/23 - 16:19:45

Traverse of Davis County Traverse. 40 miles & 12k.

  • 8/4/2023 - 12:26:02

50 mile night run in the hills of Idaho.
